Unexpectedly delicious cakes are always the best cakes! Unexpectedly delicious cakes in the coziest and cutest of settings are even better, and that's exactly what Maxie B's offers you. For those of you who are not fortunate enough to live close enough to Maxie B's, I apologize in advance; But, for those of you who are, run fast, grab your keys, and instruct your navigational system to take you directly to Maxie B's on Battleground Ave. in Greensboro, North Carolina.

We were greeted by the cutest store front and a medium sized line that made us more than eager to see what could possibly be worth the wait. When we stepped inside, it was the most exquisite, yet quaint sight to see. The counters were glittered with glass cake stands that housed the most mouth-watering cakes. I didn't even bother looking at the delicately displayed menu at the entrance. How could I, when dark chocolatey goodness was staring me straight in the face. Everyone who proceeded me in the line only bargained for one slice before sitting down in a cozy little booth, but I didn't let that guilt me from walking away with only one slice - regardless of the overfilling size. I opted for a giant slice of their Hummingbird Cake before realizing that I probably needed to expose myself to the Raspberry Lady Cake as well.... for the sake of the blog of course.

Hummingbird Cake - Ladden with bananas, pineapple and North Carolina Pecans. Frosted with cream cheese frosting & more pecans.

The Hummingbird Cake was a promising choice, seeing as though it tasted of banana and pecan cake with a hint of pineapple. It was so unbelievably moist and rich, especially when paired with the cream cheese frosting in between each layer. A cake that I'd like to deem as "very easy to eat", which I would also deem to be very dangerous.

Here is an up-close look at the Raspberry Lady Cake - a silky cream cheese layer cake slathered with Greensboro's own Jammin' George freshly-made raspberry jam and iced in cream cheese icing.

Basically the "go-to" cake for when you feel like devouring a whole cheesecake by yourself. One bite was enough to satisfy whatever sweet tooth I thought I had.

If the prospect of entertaining your taste buds with the most delectable cake you could ever imagine doesn't tickle your fancy, maybe the idea of treating your pup will bring you to Maxie B's humbling location.

Maxie B's is also seasoned in impressing your furry friends. Yes, that's right, a dessert cafe where you can bring the living thing that you love more than most of the people in your life. Not only do the bakers and owners offer specialty cakes for special four-legged occasions, they also provide daily baggies of "Pupcakes".

If you aren't dying to visit Maxie B's by the end of this blog post, one might have to assume that there is something wrong with you. But don't fret, you can still grab a cup of coffee or tea and sit in a luxurious atmosphere by a fireplace that everyone probably wishes to have as the centerpiece of their entertainment space.
