If you like wine

If you like seafood

If you like mouth watering steak and lovely service

Eddie V's is a prime option, particularly at the Oak Lawn location in Dallas, Texas. This location has a lovely ambiance for special occasions as well as a simple, classy evening meal! The service is exceptional, they have a great use of CRM and the staff is more than happy to accommodate special requests for your party. They've even been so kind as to remember our table preference and move us once it became available!

While Eddie V's is known for their prime seafood and steaks, as are many steakhouses, I always find that the menu is pleasantly surprising and diverse each time that I go. Most recently I enjoyed a new dish that made me pause and take note of how blessed I was to be experiencing it in that moment. One of the reasons that I enjoy Eddie V's as a classic go-to is because there are so many options on the menu to create a lighter dinner experience or a more savory one, or a mix of both depending on your taste for the evening.

I have a few favorite starters that I like to indulge in to keep things light. Oysters, tartare and escargot are appetizers that my eyes always tend to gravitate towards on any menu. Here's why:

Oysters

Oysters - almost always if I'm allowed haha! I love when there are good oysters on the menu. They’re super light and quick to start things off! If you are unfamiliar with oyster species and how to spot the good ones while dining out -----> click here! Pictured here are the Gulf Coast Oysters on Eddie V's Dallas menu, paired with a lovely bottle of Austin Hope Paso Robles Cabernet Sauvignon.

Tartare

Although escargot does not make an appearance on Eddie V's menu, I am happy to replace it with their "signature steak tartare". It truly is one of my favorite tartare's to date. It is prepared table-side with hand-chopped Filet, fresh egg yolk, capers and extra virgin olive oil. Oh yes, and a little swipe of a special mustard sauce to give it a little zing! This tartare melts so easily in your mouth and the flavors are boldly intertwined for the perfect combination to leave you wanting more. I swear I could eat this all day! I even got a little upset when my spouse had it cleared away, unfinished mind you, while I was in the restroom! We ended up ordering a second one because it is THAT GOOD!

Seafood Tower

Seafood towers are usually a safe bet for a shareable appetizer that offers variety for various palates in your dinner party. Although my absolute favorite seafood tower exists on crisp, white linen covered tables at Maple and Ash in Chicago, I still enjoy Eddie V's customizable shellfish tower. It is always very fresh ad perfectly chilled & who doesn't love a good, meaty lobster claw!

Onto the Entree!

To keep things light for this meal, I decided to stick with another seafood option (as I tend to do more often these days with an anti-inflammatory diet). This dish was one that I had not yet tried at Eddie V's and I was more than pleasantly surprised at the portion and the combination of flavors that were plated together.

Georges Bank Scallops

What made this scallop dish different? A lot of restaurants serve scallops the lazy way with the typical side of mashed potatoes and puddles of melted garlic butter; However, THESE scallops were sautéed with citrus fruit, roasted almonds and brown butter. I know what you're probably thinking... citrus fruit...? I questioned it myself, but the acidity in contrast to the buttery scallops, paired with the fresh greens and crunch of the roasted almonds was divine. It was a swanky little twist on a scallop dish that can so easily become monotonous among seafood/steakhouse style restaurants. Definitely a must try if you are a scallop lover! I loved how light, yet satisfying this meal left me feeling!

Let me know if you've ever been to one of Eddie V's locations! Hope you guys get the chance to experience some of their unique takes on "common" steakhouse dishes! If you like this type of restaurant >>
